Research carried out at the Koyanagi Laboratory is based on two broad objectives: the evaluation of continuous fiber-reinforced composite materials and the development of graphene composites. Our evaluation of composite materials are based on continuum mechanics; properties such as strength, deformation, time dependence, and heat resistance are studied analytically and experimentally as part of research mainly in the aerospace field. For the development of novel functionalized graphene composites, which have extremely high strength or a high thermal conductivity, we focus on molecular dynamics and chemical experiments.
