Discriminat varieties, branched covers and some odd things that I know about the Fermat curves

Abstract: A Fermat curve is a certain abelian covering of the projective line branched at 3 points, and is usually described by the equation x^n+y^n+z+n=0. I will remark that, if we allow singularities, there are some other nice embeddings of the Fermat curve.

On the clasification of projective rational cuspidal plane curves

Abstract:The main question (open problem) is: given a list of topological types of local plane curve singularities and a positive integer d, is it possible to find a degree d projective plane curve whose singular points corresponds to the list? In the talk I will provide different compatibility conditions, with a special emphasize on the "semigroup density property" (introduced and studied by de Bobadilla, Melle-Hernandez, Luengo and myself).
