Abstract:
The sphere and real projective space are typical examples of homogeneous Riemannian spaces with transformation groups that are strictly larger than the isometry group.
By contrasting the sphere and real projective space, we report on a construction of projectively minimal surfaces in three-dimensional real projective space (joint work with Shimpei Kobayashi).
