Welcome to the 4th International Conference on Sodium Battery (INaB2017). The fourth edition of the International Conference on Sodium Batteries aims to provide an international forum to facilitate discussion and knowledge exchange of the state-of-the-art research findings related with sodium battery materials, components and their applications in renewable energy and energy storage systems. The scope of this conference covers a broad range of hot topics including renewable energy technologies, energy efficiency, green energy, sustainable energy systems and smart grid related to rechargeable batteries.

The annual international conference is the scientific meeting on sodium batteries established as a technical and collaborative forum to bring together technical, engineering, and scientific experts in battery science and technology, as a next-generation energy storage technology for “Beyond Li-ion” battery chemistries. The first conference was initiated by CIC energigune, Spain, led by Professor Rojo as an organizing chief. After past successful meetings in Spain, USA, and Australia in 2013, 2015, and 2016, respectively, this year’s conference goal is to assess and communicate the current understanding and benchmark for cutting edge science in this developing field. The conference will be an opportunity to review the most recent advances in new battery materials, new electrochemical applications and the fundamental understanding, and the practical and emerging applications of sodium batteries in this important field.
In this conference, leading scientists and engineers will join to communicate their work to both the next generation of researchers as well as to industry, and inspire us to continue making the scientific and technological breakthroughs needed to create the novel green and energy solutions. Presentations will cover both the fundamental and applied aspects of advanced sodium batteries and related alkali-metal batteries. We hope it will bring newcomers to this emerging and significant field.
Tokyo University of Science is proud to be hosting this year’s conference in Tokyo, Japan, co-organizing with ESICB project, Kyoto University. We hope you enjoy hearing about and contributing to discussion of exciting new science, catching up with colleagues and making new collaborations, and take time out to explore Shinjuku-Tokyo, one of the most exciting cities in the world.
