"Water" is one of the most essential substances which supports our basis of lives in various forms, and we, not only the human being but also all the life cannot survive without the benefit of water. However, there are plenty of unexplained issues in its properties and functions, and the "water interface," which is strongly related to the interaction between the surface of materials and water, is particularly difficult to understand and control.

We, Water Frontier Research Center (WaTUS), pursue leading-edge interdisciplinary researches of water-interface to elucidate the mechanisms and to find novel control lows over the complex interfacial behaviors. Also, we, WaTUS, aim to create innovations that contribute to society and to provide “one-stop service” of water researches for industries.

Our Vision

Our Vision

Water Frontier Research Center (WaTUS) promotes interdisciplinary collaborative research that transcends the borders of conventional academic fields with the aim of understanding the complex mechanisms and finding its control laws related to "Water Interface." WaTUS consists of three units on relationship with water; "Materials and Water," "Life and Water," and "Environment and Water." Furthermore, each unit involves researchers in "Materials development" who create functional materials, "Measurement and Analysis" who develop advanced measurement and analytical techniques, and "Theory and Simulation" who specialize in theoretical analysis and simulation. We, WaTUS, will explore synergy effects though active collaborative researches to tackle various unsolved problems and contribute to sustainable society.
